Aiko's Story

Aiko lay on the bed, her withered, frail body taking in its last breaths of air. She moved in and out of conscious as she lay dying, her thoughts going back over her 65 years on this planet. Her memories spanned the decades in mere seconds, each memory playing over and over in her mind: her youth as a young girl in a rural village in England; her time mother crying softly as she was led into the monastery to take up a life a a bride of the Lord; her years of peace and service in the Church serving her Lord as a nun; her time helping the people of the village, of seeing to their creature comforts as well as their spiritual support. She smiled to herself as she lay there, knowing she had led a full and fulfilling life in the service of the Church.
She opened her eyes as she heard Father Donlevy muttering last rites over her ematiated and failing form. But there was a hint of regret in her mind - regret that she had never known the feeling of a man, had never felt a man's touch, had never felt a man inside of her. She quickly pushed this thought to the back of her mind, afraid this impure thought would be the last she knew before she gave up her ghost to join the ranks of the faithful in Heaven. But even as this thought passed fleetingly through her mind, her last breath passed her lips and her eyes took on the blank gaze of the newly deceased.
When she opened her eyes, she found herself lying on another bed. This one, though, was very comfortable, not like the one she had slept on for years. She looked around, soon realizing the room in which she found herself was vaguely familiar. It finally dawned on her that it looked much like her old room before she had gone into the monastery. She smiled then threw back the covers to find her body was perfect. And young. She passed her hands over it, not believing it was really hers. But her fingers caused goose bumps to arise on her skin. She was very surprised when her fingers passed over her nipples and they hardened right away, the sensation flowing through her like electricity. She quickly withdrew her hands, guilt flooding her mind.
As she brought the covers back up to her chin, the door opened. A very large man with flowing hair and a beauty that fairly radiated from him entered the room, the smile on his face kind and full of compassion. She also noticed he had a pair of magnificent wings folded onto his back.
He introduced himself as Morkozel, one of the Hundred Elite. He told her she was his charge, and he would be responsible for showing her the ways of being an Angel.
They worked closely together for many months. Morkozel was kind and patient and a very good teacher. Aiko found herself thinking more than once about him and what it would be like to be with him. She quickly pushed these thoughts away, though, knowing that was as forbidden here as it was on the prime material plane. But as the days went on, she found herself daydreaming more and more about him.
One day they were discussing the duties of angels who were sent to the Earth to fulfill heavenly projects. As they talked and laughed their hands touched briefly. Their eyes met, and the next thing Aiko knew, they had embraced, their lips meeting in a passionate kiss. In the next instant, they lay in each others' arms, exploring each others bodies, reveling in the physical pleasure of carnal lust.
But the skies suddenly darkened, and Morkozel, horror clouding his beautiful eyes, jumped up and ran off. And as he ran, Aiko saw his wings shrivel and fall off. Then, in a tremendous flash of lightning, he disappeared. She looked around, fear filling her at what she had done. A voice suddenly filled her head.
"You have broken the rules of Heaven, child. You are not ready to live among the Chosen. You are to be banished to the material plane to wander for the rest of eternity. So it is said, so it is written!"
And with that Aiko suddenly found herself lying face down in the mud of the city, the freedom and joy and peace of Heaven cut from her heart. She got to her feet, tears streaming from her eyes as she gazed up at the night sky. And she vowed that one day she would stand back among the Angels, her head held high, her name spoken in that most cherished of realms with respect and honor. She looked back down at the grimy city in which she stood. And she realized the road was going to be a long and hard one.
