Today, though Tremere is unlive and well, the clan is generally run by members of the Council. The Council follows the Code set up by Tremere; and dissension between members is nearly unheard of. Apparently, lust for power can be heriditary- as this is still a driving goal for most Tremere. It is this lust coupled with clan unity that make the Tremere so dangerous.

The Tremere are a clan of tightly-knit magicians. In comparison to the other vampiric clans, the Tremere are especially loyal to their hierarchy.
Though Clan Tremere doesn't date back millenia like many clans do, that doesn't make its history any less colorful. The Tremere are by far the most powerful and influential non-original clan in existence. They are also unique in that they are not, in the strictest sense, descendants of Caine; as befits a group whose main focus has always been magic, they owe their origins to sorcery.

House Tremere (a group of around 75 members) was part of an organization called The Order of Hermes, a mage group which existed through most of the Dark Ages.

It is told that the Tremere were a cabal of human alchemists and Mages who attempted to gain the immortality and powers (Disciplines) of the vampires. After gruelling research and many setbacks, their experiments resulted not in immortality and blood-fueled magic, but undeath (the cursed state of existence laid upon all Kindred), and pitiably stunted powers. During the time of their inception, The Dark Ages, they were considered an upstart, and had already made many enemies as a result of their experiments. t

Since they moved from an isolated band of Mages into an acknowledged, mysterious and powerful Clan of Kindred in the space of less than a Thousand years, and since they had created unknowable and powerful new Disciplines (as well as for other, darker reasons), the Tremere are generally mistrusted, and are frequently referred to with the sobriquet, "Usurpers."

Thaumaturgy

A discipline that is practiced secretly by the Tremere clan. Only under rare cases should a non-Tremere know thaumaturgy. In the event that it becomes known that a non-Tremere has learned this forbidden art, that kindred and the kindred responsible for the teaching are usually met with the final death by Clan Tremere. Blood magic allows the caster to use a small or big portion of his blood to harm the enemy or protect himself.

What a fledgeling Tremere or outsiders would know.

You can remember parts of the Code of Tremere, but as bits and pieces, as fragments of the whole. It would require concentration to recite the entire Code of Tremere;
You know that breaking the Tremere rules is a bad thing, and that loyalty to House and Clan is everything. The Tremere are an ancient and secret society of sorcerers, with a hierarchy composed of multiple ranks within the clan, but nobody is supposed to know that;
The Pyramid everyone refers to is a mystical entity that oversees all Tremere;
Stay out of trouble, because Tremere who get in trouble too often vanish mysteriously and sometimes reappear greatly changed;
Tremere refuse to teach their magic to anyone else;
Nobody is supposed to know where the Tremere sleep during the day but the Tremere;
Stupidity equals expandability;
The location of the Chantry should never be revealed; Chantry = clan
The Tremere are run out of Lycans Asylum by incredibly powerful and controlling Elders;
You know that when asked about their magic, the Tremere give the response: "that's a good question, let me do some research and I will get back to you"
